Healthier, gluten free, LOADED BBQ CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH. A few years ago my friend introduced me to this deli in queens that make the best loaded sandwiches. And you guys know I'm such a sucker for a loaded sandwich, so this place obviously turned into one of my favorites to visit when I'm in the area. But obviously I don't live in queens, so i resorted to making my own copycat version here!
So please note this sandwich is far from healthy, but it is healthier than it could be. I air fried the chicken cutlet instead of frying it in oil. I also noted some substitutions below you can choose from to make this sandwich right for you!
1 gluten free hero (Andrew's going to fight with me that its a sub roll but I'll let that go)
1 gluten free chicken cutlet
2 slices of cheddar cheese (can sub dairy free cheese)
4 slices of bacon (can sub turkey bacon)
1 handful gluten free waffle fries
3 TBSP BBQ sauce (you can use any one you want but i LOVE sweet baby rays)
1. Slice the hero in half and toast until crispy. Depending on the size of your bread you can bake at 400 until crispy.
2. Add the cheese and let it melt.
3. Add the chicken cutlet, bacon, fries and bbq sauce.
4. Cut in half and serve!
✨Gluten free Chicken cutlet✨
For this chicken cutlet I took 1 raw chicken breast, dipped it in egg whites (instead of egg, this is healthier!), then dipped in gluten free seasoned bread crumbs. Airy fry on 400 for 7 minutes on each side. This is still a chicken cutlet which is not the healthiest version of chicken you can heat but sometimes feel good food is good for your mental health. I felt better that it wasn't fried in oil but don't get me wrong... those kinds of chicken cutlets are delish too!
